can a 1950 ford f 100 side shift open drive transmission fit a 1948 car. I know i must convert to open drive Thanks

The case is the same, so it will bolt up. the difference is the rear trans mount. I am really not familiar with the F1 stuff, but if you have both trans sitting in front of you, whats the difference in the rear mount?. Give Mac VP a call

Thinking some more, your 48 is an X frame, and the F1 is the ladder type frame. IIRC the F1 has a cross member to hold up the trans at the rear, and uses a more conventional rubber mount, and not the doughnuts like the older cars.

I'm pretty sure the '48 has a similar type of rear trans mount as an F1. It would be either one of two widths; a wide spaced one or a shorter spaced one. Seeing the parts side by side, they are easy to see.

Which one the '48 uses, I'm not sure, but the good news is that part is easily interchangeable.

I have several of those rear transmission mounts with the 8 in. spacing between holes if anyone needs one. Just PM me. I think the 1948 uses the 8 in. spacing. Thanks, JIM

Would this application/procedure apply to a '47 Ford sedan ? (Not having synco between first and second gear is unfortunate)
