Transmission removal

First Id like to know, do I have a C-4 or C-6? The casting # is D4AF-7006-AA. This is behind a '77 302 truck.

Second, Ive never pulled one of these. Do I pull just the ****** first, then the bellhousing & torque converter or all at once. Fortunately there is no body on the frame so the job should be relatively easy.

I think the c6s are all one piece, and c4 the bellhousing and trans are 2 pieces.First remove the touque convertor bolts,You should drain it if drain plug on converter. Then the bellhousing bolts pull back about 2 inches a drop or lift out.If you keep the back lower the convertor will stay on.When ready remove convertor.

Yes the C4 bell housing can be removed but look at the transmission pan , if it's a square pan , then it's a C4 . The C6 pan is not square and is rectangle in shape and the bell housing and case is all one solid unit .
