I'm baffled I am building a transmission for my 1916 engine using 1925 brake drum with the replaceable lugs but not the improved brake with larger braking serface . so its a standard one inch drum width. low drum 1" and reverse drum 1" after assembly with the drive gear on the brake drum shaft pressed on so that the flange is flush to the top of the shaft as the book shows. I am getting what I think is far to much end play about 3/16 of an inch . I know that this assembly does not require any thrust washers between the drums. I compared the drums and shaft from the flywheel to other parts that I took out and they are all the same length. Just can't figure why the reverse drum has so much end play. Any sugestions much appreciated. Frank pkny
