Transmission options?

Ken/Alabama's ****** looks great. Now that's got me thinking I seen some ford transmissions, how hard would it be to buy a whole lincon zeper kit and put in a ford housing? I'm considering scrappin my idea for the 5 speed now.?? Is there an overdrive out there to fit and if these are 3 speeds how would the overdrive engage? With a button? Basically my question is if I do go that route how reliable would that be vs a 5 speed, with the overdrive could I get upto 75 and run there all day?

I just looked one up and it looks like an extra axle. To me since I run Heavy equipment, it's like a dump truck transmission, it said you can mount the shifter next to your old one, so I'm thinking after you hit 3rd, clutch split the gears and the last two are overdrive. flatheadv8.org/mitchell.pdf. Thats where I found it.

I'm thinking that this is a legitimate question. Do the Lincoln Zephr Borg-Warner overdrive units adapt to the Flathead engine easily or not? I know that they (the Lincoln overdrive units) came out before Ford adopted the R-10 and R-11 units and maybe they won't bolt up to Ford. Who knows if there is a way to easily use the Borg-Warner overdrive from a Lincoln in a '32 - '40 Ford?
