transmission leak

trying to stop this leak that caused the latest damage to the 3 speed OD/Transmission in my '51 Merc.
replaced the tailhousing seal, not leaking there. it's leaking where countershaft exits flush with the transmission housing, visable from underneath the OD adapter plate between the OD and the transmission housing. is there anything i can add to the transmission lubrication to help stop this leak? i'm currently using 85-95W gear oil. or is there another oil i may have to switch to, to get something that i can add to it. BarsLeak products say they'll work with any transmission oils, but is this 85-95W gear oil considered transmission oil?
don't want it to leak dry again, the transmission leaks, the OD spills into it, and runs dry, and the OD seizes up. how do i know this? don't ask.....

I have heard of people putting a pint of brakefluid in the trans to stop a leak.
I don't know if it works or not. Worth a try if you are on the road and trying to get home.

Works good
Lasts long time

When rebuilding manuals I always smeared # 2 permatex on the last 1/2" of the counter shaft pin to eliminate leaks, I don't know if that will work if its already assembeled! Brakefluid will swell the seals in a automatic transmission! you must be careful there is a fine line between swelling and blowing a clutch seal. There are much better transmission conditioners available than using Brakefluid.

It's a hard fix with the trans assembled, you might try draining the oil and raising the rear of the car to make any oil flow away from the leak then clean it real good with laquer thinner or any thing to get any oil residue off then cover the end of the shaft with RTV. I have also used JB weld to seal it up also.
