Transfer oil change

I Need to change the oil in the trans on the Tudor. Does anyone use an additive?

Same thing with the rear end. I heard, (from another Model A owner), that it is a good idea to use some STP oil treatment along with the change. Same for rear end.

Any advice?

Ahhh. Wrong title Should read Trans oil change. I hate auto spelling!!

I don't use any additives, just the proper oil ---and whan you are checking/changing oil in the trans and rear don't forget the steering gear, it uses the same oil

I've been told that STP's real advantage is it's stickiness. It will stay on the parts long after the oils have drained off. However, I don't think that would be a concern when you are dealing with 600W. 600W, steam Cyl oil, is only a name, It's actually around 260 weight.

I use the 600W from Macs and a small amount of Slick 50 Trans rear end oil. It is very slippery and not sticky like STP. Wayne

If your transmission was restored with seals, use a modern synthetic or synthetic blend 140W hypoid gear oil. Use the modern oil in the differential. Otherwise use the stuff known as 600W.

I used the SPO288 based on a FordBarn thread recommendation, and what a difference. The transmission is quieter and shifts better. I'm not sure what was in it before, but I'm glad I went with the Lubriplate. About $50 for a gallon, and that was enough for the transmission, differential, and steering box with some left over.

Lubriplate SPO288. The real McCoy.
