Trailer winch

I sold Aluma trailers for 15 years before I retired. They are an excellent company to work with and they build very nice trailers. Every Aluma enclosed trailer is customized to the customers wants and needs.

One last question about winch installation. Should I put a fuse between battery and winch? Also battery cut off switch? I ended up installing battery outside trailer, just in front of where winch is on inside. I was thinking of installing 30amp fuse on positive side of battery inside battery box. Power winch sells these. Then I wasn't sure about a cut off switch inside trailer near winch. Any thoughts?

A circuit breaker might be better than a fuse, on a hard pull the current goes waaay up, you could run out of fuses in a hurry.

I made up this simple rig for emergency use on my trailer. No batteries, no cables etc. Just a high quality worm winch and a cordless drill/impact. The worm gear is something like 80-1 ratio using a ****** block, so the drill pulls a car up with no problem. If nothing else, the hand crank can be used.
