Tow Bar

i am sure "someone" has towed a model a behind a suv. don't know the out come, with that being said, i would not do it, several of my reasons: first the front end assembly would take a beating if there was any wear in the ball socket, spindle bushings, wheel bearings, even more so if there were no shocks, the second reason-the rear wheel bearings are not tapered bearings, just my belief at interstate speeds these bearings would be short lived, as most are worn in the bearing and the axle race. added to the fact the transmission is going to be turning much higher rpm, etc. etc. why not buy a car trailer for 1K-2K$ be safe and not wear the old girl out....just my .02 worth

I occasionally use my brother's Blue Ox Aladdin tow bar. It's aluminum and weighs less than 20 lbs, so it is easy to lift and attach. It goes directly in a 2" receiver, no ball hitch to play with. You will need brackets to fit the "A" axle, tow chains and temporary brake lights for the tow. Don't even think of going more than 30 mph with a tow bar. Use a flatbed if you need to go faster.

For what it's worth - we once towed our 29 CCPU from NH to Fla straight down the interatate with a tow bar. Just checked all fluids/grease - no problems at all. That was
in 1984, and it still has no problems! These are tough vehicles!! Got a lot of looks/questions on that trip!

I agree withcannon A 2000 lb trailer with brakes would give you a clear mind or better yet drive the car and enjoy it.

I use a Reese adjustable tow bar with the brackets bolted to the front axle. Guys towed model a's over the Grapevine in the forties using wishbone tow bars to get to the dry lakes.
