Totally off topic question

Is there anyone here familiar with the new fad of sticking humongo chrome wheels under a more modern vehicle making the vehicle look cartoonish? How are they able to turn the front wheels? I have never seen one up close, I would suspect the tires would have to rub the frame??????

They are about the ugliest vehicles ive ever seen. The worst of the bunch are the ones that the cap keeps spinning even when you stop.uuugggllleeeyyyy. ken ct OMO

Are you speaking of the fad called Donk or a Hi-Riser?

If so, I have had the "pleasure" of viewing one or two up-close, and most of them have 22" - 24" tires that the wheel backspacing allows for some clearance. To keep this applicable to this forum, just let me say that I don't think a Model A would look attractive as a 'Donk'.

Thanks Brent, I hadn't thought of the back spacing, I didn't know there was a specific term. There was a picture of a cabby or sport coupe with tractor? tires underneith, looked sort of cool, maybe that is where it originated!!;)

AKA "Dubs". Proto Rapper/Lowrider. Those rims are known to disintegrate in a collision, spraying chrome shrapnel. Tires are very expensive for being rubberized rim protectors.

I work on some of them, it is all about the looks ---it doesn't matter how it drives, if the rims are square from being beat up , as long as the rims are shiney, the base thumps loud, and the sunroof works they will put up with shaking, bad balance and rubbing in the wheel wells. ---the spinning ones are out of style now in this area, I havn't seen any in a year or so, the owners are usually cash customers, it just takes awhile to count the 1s, and 5s if they work in the lower end of the entertainment industry.

They all seem to have the money for the fancy wheels and tires, and clothes, but most don't have jobs. How does that work??

"Still off topic ... but we may be driving on these soon ?"

Wow what an ugly thing, I dont know if I could trust them.....

Yes Steve, I have seen the UGLY things you are talking about. The only time I get to see them up close is on the side of the road with blown out tires and bent rims from hitting common pot holes that so often appear in the roads here on the East coast.
IT DONT MAKE ANY CENT.

If you guys dont hear from me for a few days its cuz I have to now get a new keyboard for my computer. I just PUKED

Tinker, Just when you think you've seen everything....

Matt, you made me laugh out loud!!!!!

That thing would probably tip if he took a corner too fast!!!!!

The first time I received a SPAM email about those Micheline airless tires was probably around 2001-2002. As far as I am aware they are not real and never were.

occasionally they seem to keep popping up.

By the way, how long until this switches over to pictures of cars with huge exhaust tips connected to 1" exhaust pipes? Or my favorite, the mufflers whos tips are pointed upward and catch rain and water.
