Torque Tube to Differential Seal

My understanding upon reading articles: The torque tube is/was installed in order to stabilize the rear axle. Ford was "wishy-washy" regarding this tube; to wit, some years had it, other years didn't. My 1936 half-ton had a torque tube=4 bolts to the differential. The 1950 Ford DID NOT(at least ours didn't) but 1940 did?

I wouldn't waste time on looking for a seal. Seal? Fahgetaboutit.

I always try to read articles containing factual "facts". DD

All flatheads 32-48 had a torque tube didn't they? Isn't that what the drive shaft runs through on a closed drive shaft? When did Ford go to an open drive shaft, by the way?
