I did a search, but couldn't find and answer, so here I am asking...What is the recommended "silicone" sealant to use when installing a new top insert?
There is/are silicones out there which contain an acid (acetic or something like that) which do create rust issues with paint but it is my understanding that the it is the 100% silicone that creates the problem. We just use a Latex caulk that has silicone mixed in and it does not create a problem.
Permatex makes a clear sealant that seems to work well. It's called Permatex Silicone Windshield Glass Seal. It's a clear sealant. I've used it in one of my antique autos and it works well.
