Top iron tabs for '29 roadster

I thought I was in the final stages of restoring my '29 roadster. I started with a basket case, body parts wired together, etc. Now, about a decade later, mechanicals re-done from frame up, body work and painting finished, ready for interior work.

Now I find (should have thought about it earlier) that I don't have the top iron tabs that mount in the rear quarter panel just behind the doors. How are these mounted? It looks like there were either two screws attached to the reinforcing sheet metal or two welds. Can anyone describe this or provide a picture? I have broken off nubs at this location.

Hi, 10 years .... it has taken me 2. :D

I've sent some photos which may help. I could find only one of the tab fixing, this also shows the back seat rest boards and a little of the slat that goes under the seat bottom. This wood is from the Mac's open car kit which I've stained with a Ronseal black which I hope will look 'authentic'' - whatever that is !

You are right.

My friend in Texas has a 3 car - Car Cathedral. Smooth concrete floor and motorised up and over doors, bright airy windows etc etc.

We Brits work in pokey little rabbit hutches late at night in the Winter with a fan heater on and an inspection light for the dark corners !!!

These tabs that support the top assembly were cut off on my 29 rdstr. when I started restoring it several yrs ago. I made a template from a friends car & made mine. They are now reproduced & available from the suppliers. Originally they were rivited to the support that goes around the belt rail. I threaded the brackets I made & used small fine threaded bolts (3) to hold them to the support. The brackets have a dog leg in them. Good luck. I took hundreds of pictures during my restoration including installing the L-B uphulstrey kit. If you need any pics let me know. Good luck

Thanks everyone for the pic's and info. I have the remains of the rivets in mine. I will buy the repro tabs and drill and thread two or three holes to attach with screws (and amybe a little jb weld)
