I love old tools too and have accumulated quite a few over the years.
Some day I will mount the ones I don't use on a board to display them, but for now they are in an antique tool box in the garage. The tool box is getting quite heavy to lift, so I mounted the tool box on a board with wheels mounted on it to roll it across the garage floor when it gets in the way.

Durn! That's the one I carry in my Model T! I've used it in the driveway before with no trouble; what's the issue with this type?

I have that jack. No more problem than any of those old ones. Works good as long as the car is chocked.

I agree. I like the cast jacks and use them with a foot square piece of 3/4" plywood for better stability, as well as wheel chocks.

The last one I used slipped out of gear as I was jacking up the car. That's why I won't use that type any more. But if you feel lucky, go right ahead.
