did a shade tree mechanic compression test and got notthing on the tester so all plugs out and carb plates tied wide open and spun engine for 5-10 mins and all cylinders blowing air some as strong as me feeling it on my face . some just feel against ur finger . anyway took the intake off everything is very clean no build up in there what so ever oil all over the place so tells me its oiling good . any way this is what i see

and after spinning the engine around a little while most valves are working lifter goes up pushes valve spring compacts and goes back down and here and there one lifter goes up never moves the valve and spring so def some stuck valves here . so that be said im guessing there stuck in the valve guides ???? if so hows the way to fix that .

yes lots of stuck valve--MMO and spray this into the cylinder and on the valve guides springs, etc in the lifter gallery--you may have to take a piece of wood dowell and push and tap the valves stuck open back down

I'm no expert by any means, but when removing some stuck valves this weekend, I drove a valve stem into a lifter. Didn't know those things were hollow.
Just an FYI.

I tried the dowel trick and it would push it back down with a snap, but stick again on the way up. I removed the head and took the valve out. It had a small piece of grit hanging it up. I replaced the valve since it was out. It's tight in the guide and starts fine now.

im just wondering if i should just go ahead and pop the heads off and look at everything see how much lip is on the block and deal with the stuck valves and just order a set of head gaskets and intake and reassemble ????

i didnt know cause it was hititng and etc before i started any of this so i just didnt knoiw if i needed to go ahead take the heads off or just play around with the valves for a while and etc :) so i need to just marvel mystery oil everything and know the stuck valves back down and get them to all go up and down and then new intake gasket and try it again ????

we worked on two 8BAs that had stuck valves, got all but one valve moving up and down, it puched a hole in the lifter, but the other engine runs good has over 20" of vacuum and starts easy--going to check compression when it cools off a bit--the weather I mean!

well update the valves are getting unstuck rather easy few pecks with a piece wood and they fall down and im marvel mystery oiling everything everywhere and im usein seam foam to and its lubing everything up great so maybe half a week or so and im going to keep running the engine over witht he starter to make sure none are going to restick as before me putting all the gaskets back it on . but any way i had to pull the heads off cause most of the valves that was stuck was the ones behind the head not accessable from the plug hole so plus this will give me the chance to clean every thing up . anyway under the heads cylinders have to lip hat so ever water jackets are nice and clean . and heres my question all carbon build up was like powder enough to just clean off with a gas rag and as i was cleaning the piston tops all of them are marked with there numbers 1 to 8 and underneath all the number there marked 0.60 am i believeing what im seeing motr has been bored ????? and another thing as its loping over it sounds like it may i dont know for sure sounds like a high lope cam .
