tobacco road 1941

Yes, that was my first time also. And I commented to the wife how painful it was to see what they did to that 41 Conv.

one of the reasons i dont like to watch some of these old movies is what i see done to the cars.not the acting, plot or any other thing, just hate to see the old cars destroyed.lol one of the things i do hate about this movie is how they protray poor southern folk.

Robert Dip,
This clip and the turnip sack were the only parts I remember of this movie. I did not remember that the car was on an incline when he turned it over by getting under it and doing a push up.

Back when I saw this movie, for the first time, the car carnage did not mean a thing. It might as well been a worn out Toyota.
MIKE :)

x2 !
Lots of em in junk yards back when..mabe not as new as shown in film, but still in beautiful condition. Those bodies were so sturdy as to seem indestructable! Don't think that salt was used on Pa roads back then. Took a crusher/scrapper to do them in then...

Towards the end, the Ford just barely ran and didn't have a straight panel on it. At the time the movie was made you could have gone to the local Ford dealer and bought a dozen more just like it. Probably less than a $1,000 then.

I heard a story at one time that a bodyman bought that car and straightened all of it with a hammer, dolly and heating with a torch and throwing cold water on it and made it like new. If that is true i would have liked to have taken some bodywork lessons from him . Marv
