titles

Blessyouboys: Many streetrods, etc in CT are registered in maine. There must be a reason, one t-bucket in particular has a 454 with blower and dual quads, body sits low, has to lean out side to drive, too much engine/blower in front. Legally registered in maine, must be a reason.

The title is referenced to the vehicle by the VIN (vehicle identification number). In the case of the Model A it is the engine number. If you buy a title and place that number on the engine block you are in essence committing a crime. You can go to the DMV and request a title search on the number and try registering it as a lost title.

John, In Illinois the DMV and State Police no longer care about engine numbers. If you have a Model A and they request verification you must raise the body and show the frame number.

All those metal stamps used to re-number rebuilt engines may now find new use in Illinois doing framework. This may open up a whole new can-o-worms. I've seen several Model A frames, and although they are stamped in the general area aft of the left motor mount, the location varies quite a bit.
