Tires and wheels

I'm going to replace my tires and looking at powder coating my rims.
I'm using rubber stem tubes.
Do you need to drill out the stem hole to allow for the powder coat ??

Would you recommend Universal or Lucas tires ??
This is just a hobby driver and not a tour car.

The tires in my avatar picture thingie are Universals. I liked their unusually large tread width--seemed to give a less drifty ride than my new Firestones. BUT, the balance shop I took them to determined that they were just hopelessly unbalanceable; the guy said he would have to double stack the stick on weights to get close. I decide to wrap lead rope around spokes. Have no idea how representative mine are relative to today's. That was ~20 years ago.

just got my rims back from powdercoating and they look excellent! Looking at getting lester tires for the 31 tudor. Wish someone would post a picture of a lester on a vehicle. anyone?
