Tire size question

The 750x16 tires would be a little large for a basically stock full fendered '36 Ford.. It is very true that in days gone by when the 'big & little' (dago) look was popular, some people ran tires as big as 820 on the rear... Of course they hit the fenders.
A 650x16 is about the largest tire that can be safely ran on stock wheels... The 750x16 tires are basically truck tires which are intended for HD truck type wheels.
The '36/39 Ford wide 5 wheels are only 4.5 wide rims, this rim is to narrow for the 750 tires.
Of course if you are only looking for tires to make a car a roller, any tire that will hold air will do..

Of course you can. Wish my memory was a little better - It seems like it's only been 2 or 3 days since someone posted a picture of 7.50x16 on the rear of your era Ford. Yes, the rim is a tad narrow, but it works. I've had 7.50x16's on my 34 (on 35 wheels), and had no problem. A friend of mine has been running these for a long time on a 34 with no problems. That's one way some of us get the next-higher gear ratio.
