Tire Size - Lester Tires

I am going to put a new set of Lester Tires on our 1930 Tudor. The standard size is 475/500-19, but I am thinking about going to 525/550-19
because the tires will look a little bigger, and the car will gain about 1.6 miles per hour at highway speed. The 525/550 is about 1 inch bigger in diameter and abut .5 inch wider than the standerd size tire.

Has anybody else tried this? I supppose one probem could be clearance with the fenders especially when turing. I am also concerned that tire might be a little wide for the wheel. We don't have side mounts on the car, so this is not a problem. I know car will have a little less power.

Thanks

i talked with a guy yesterday that was planning going about that same rout, he was wanting a softer ride with lower pounds per square inch around town but if i were after miles per gallon i'd up that pounds per square inch to a maximum rated hot and check it .
you might want to regulate what you get now pounds per square inch, miles per gallon, distance, speed traveled, highway, around town, so on and so forth. i'd like to know how that differs.
