Tire Cleaner?

If you read the label on many tire cleaners there are warnings about what to not use them on because of their harshness. Since Model A wheels are painted what tire cleaner can be used which will do a good job.

SOS pads, Mr Clean pads, any of the cleaners probably.
I use Wesley's bleachwhite on my 30 yr old firestones, no problems.

I use Wesleys also on the whitewalls but I do not use it on the sidemount spares because it does contain a bleaching agent and I am reluctant to get it on the body paint. I use SOS pads on the sidemount spares amd I use Blue Coral and Turtle Was soap and water on the rims and the rest of the body.

Scrubbing Bubbles!!!!!! Cleans the wheels and the tires with ease. Just spray it on, let it set a few minutes, then wash it off with a hose. A Miracle right before your eyes!!!!!

If I had whitewall tires I'd clean them with TIRE BLACK.:D

Actually I have a set of new 19" whitewalls and new inner tubes that came mounted on good red rims. For the price I couldn't turn them down, and they won't look so bad on my black 31 Town Sedan.:)

I've used Westley's in the past and liked it, but I haven't bothered to clean whitewall tires for many years. They look OK with patina.:)

Yeah I use Westley's on my 29 Coupe's whitewalls, my grandpa used that when I was little so I still use it. I'm thinking about putting whitewalls on my 28 leatherback since the car is all black, want to make it pop some.

Have had excellent success with cleanser like Ajax and a handle type scrub brush and water. After rinsing the tires well, dry the wheels and tires and let sit a while to completely dry. Then, spray some 303 protectant on the tires and wipe with a dry rag. The 303 dries in a couple hours. Then, not only do they look great, but dirt doesn't stick to them any more either, and the tires look perfect again after a quick swipe with the car duster.

Can't argue with results.

If you read both Coker Tire and Diamondbacks brochures they say never use whitewall cleaner that contains bleach. Sounds crazy but they both say that the bleach will turn the whitewall yellow. They recommend "Frequent cleaning with a fine abrasive cleaning pad and Castrol Super Clean, 409, Simple Green or Greased Lightning, and never use Armor All.

Correct- Armor All is a "quick shine" product but horrible for long-term use. 303 protectant is different and excellent for preserving tires and vinyl tops.

So it sounds like the safe consensus is soap and water, no products with bleach or harsh chemicals because their effects on tires are questionable....
