Tire change mop.

How do you go about changing tires using the plastic bad trick I have heard a few talk about? Is it just as easy to change the tires on the car? The last time I changed the tires off the car about 15 years ago, but I see the Ford book says you can leave the tires on the car.
Thanks.

Just last weekend I did both front wheels, removed the old tires and installed new Firestones. This was my first attemp at doing this and the garbage thing worked well, however on the second wheel I went with Dawn and felt it made the task even easier. Front beed juse fell on, so much so I was surprised. The back beed took a little more effort but all in all the whole thing was alot more easier than I thought it would be. Be doing all my tire changes myself from here on.

Hello Ron I used the garbage bag method I had never changed a Model A tire before in my life and it worked well. I did the same as Dusty I used some dawn dishwashing liquid to help put on. As stated before the first side of bead just fell on the other side I did use a tire iron on one hateful tire but all the rest I just stood up on the edge of the rim and worked all the way around with my boots until it slipped on the rim, then just pull bag out and it does come out easier with soap on it. Now that all sounds easy with no effort and with me being the first time changing Model A tires it does take a little time and and a few "grunts" to get on but it works pretty good! One thing that I didn't do that might help I thought about laying tires out in the Sun for awhile to heat and maybe expand somewhat but don't really know if that would help or not just a thought. If you need something to help slip the tire over the rim, use talcum powder rather than soap. It also helps to coat the tube with powder before placing it in the tire. It reduces the chances of folding the tube and chaffing within the tire. An antique tire dealer told me several years ago to use talcum powder to change Model T tires. I did and it worked a lot better than soap. Now I use it for both A and T tires. The cheapest baby powder works just fine.

Hope you have better luck than i did. Three years ago I installed Firestones and even with rotating they wore out in less than 5000 miles.

I hope they last longer than 5000 miles however the Denmans I had on only lasted 1500 miles so 5000 would be a big improvment:)
