Timming & spitting gas out

MOTOR IS STILL SPITTING GAS OUT THE CARB. FILLING THE CAB WITH VAPORS AS IT BURNS OF THE EXHAUST. REBUILT THE CARB. AND RUNS THE SAME AS BEFORE. COULD THE TIMMING GEAR BE OFF ONE TOOTH AND STILL RUN?? I REPLACED IT BUT THE OLD GEAR WAS SO CRUMBLY THAT IT POSSIBLY MAY HAVE GOT TURNED 1 TOOTH? WOULD IT EVEN RUN? TIMMING HAS BEEN SET SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO BE SURE. REBUILT THE DIST, NEW WIRES, PLUGS, COIL, CAP, POINTS,EVERYTHING. WEIRD HUH, SHE HAS SAT FOR 45 YEARS, POSSIBLE STUCK VALVE??
LOTS OF QUESTIONS I KNOW, THANKS FOR LOOKING ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

when you put the timming gears on the 2 dots should face each other. it would still run being off a tooth but that would throw your piston to valve timing out of sync. is it backfiring out of the carburetor on acceleration? or is fuel just running out of the carb like a float valve (needle/seat) not seating? its sounds like you have a potential fire hazzard going there be carefull.

Re raw gas out of carb. Sounds like the float valve is stuck from crud in the gas tank. Or needs to have another gasket under it. If the gas level is too high in the fuel bowl it will flow out the jets into the throat. Some of the old repop jets are too short. The tops must be just were the venture makes it's bend from top to bottom.
Timming gear, if you lined up the marks then there is no way to be off. The pins are off set so the gear can only go on one way. don't know if it would run being one tooth off.

Sat for 45 years....sounds like a stuck valve. Pull the valve cover and see wich one is sticking.

Rebuilt the carb. All new needle and seat. Old needle and seat did the same. Carb. Rebuild did not change anything. Raw gas spitting out the carb. Starts right up and will idle but running rough, backfiring a bit but not real bad or anything just rough. Am able to drive it, but cannot get her up over 1/2 throttle before she dies out. Backing of the throttle will get her to pick up again. Left timming control on the colum does not make it run better when advanced. Timming gear only went on one way.

Interesting findings. Compression goes, no.1 55 psi, no.2 47 psi, no.3 53 psi, no.4 55 psi. The plugs of no. 1 & 4 are black. The plugs on no. 2 & 3 look great, nice white insulator. I must have some gremlins in the ignition system. The carb. Needle and seat must have issues, it will drip fuel slowly when the petcock is on and motor is off. But what may account for the engine dying above 1/2 throttle. CHECKED THE VALVES ALL WORKING FINE.
