Never changed it before, it is shot. Right or left hand thread? Tips on removing the nut? I have the special socket. Thanks

No luck yet. Just grinding off the old maserated teeth using my breaker bar. Should i try my 1/2'' impact?? The bugger is really on there, i am very strong and am afraid of ruining something. Thanks

If you have an original nut, try tapping the flat of it with a bar and hammer. I've removed a lot of them like that. It bangs up the nut, but that isn't terribly important, at least to me.

All the same to you I'd just as soon not bang up my nut:rolleyes:

Seemed kind of slow around here so I thought I would try to generate some talk. I guess everyone must be fixing some thing for the weekend. I must change oil and do some lubing tomorrow as I got two shows to attend and about 200 miles or so to travel. gotta have some fun while the sun is shining cause that damn S word will soon be here.

hahha not "banging my nut" either.... I would put some pen. oil on it and try it--- if you can get some heat on it that may loosen it also. Have used both these on wheel and brake parts.

Now you went and did it....I am not sure roasting a nut is the answer ether:)

use the impact , when you get the new gear make sure the timing dimple is pronounced, if not use a drill and make it deeper so you can easily find it with the timing pin

I agree with ford 1, use the impact; it was probable put on with an impact. They can be a bugger some times but your want the nut tight.

The 550 ft. Lbs. Impact did it, the nut is fine also. Thanks for the info. The 29 aa should be fired up soon, first time in 45 years!
