Timing Cam is Moving(?)

It sounds like you have already done a lot of fiddling with the distributor. My thought is that your problem may well be caused by a broken camshaft thrust spring inside the timing cover. This will permit the camshaft to move fore and aft under changes in the engine RPM. Your description of how this develops within a few miles after you have reset the timing for the umpteenth time matches this type of problem. I can tell you this from first hand experience.

Thank you again for your comments. I used a bit of lock tight and, yes, a bit of super glue, to hold the timing cam in place (not so much that I can't get it off). It worked, and the A managed to drive 70 miles today with no issues whatsoever. It is 100 percent fact that the cam is moving. I will look at purchasing the new one-piece distributor shaft, but I have some things to verify first. Thank you all again.

I would also look at the intermediate drive gear. I have found some that spin on the shaft. This will throw off the timing.
