I have a 1930 Tudor with a model B engine, Mallory dual point distributor. I think my timing is off because it is heating up when climbing. How do I time the dual point distributor?
The instructions for my Mallory dual point only mentions setting the point gap. Try advancing it a bit to see if it gets better. You could narrow the gap on the points some to advance the timing, also.
where is it set now?
what is the advance curve— total advance?
Has the distributor been tested/set up on a machine?
one way that can be used to set base timing is with a vacuum gauge, advance timing to get highest vacuum and retard 1 inch of vacuum.
