What's the difference between a Day timer and a T or E timer ,what about a TW timer .

They all perform the same function as a Ford timer. They were just different ideas aimed at improving on or skirting the Ford patents

That group of timers are for the normal Ford magneto and coils, but have different design to improve on life.

The New Day is a brush style, with a forward facing brush making contact with terminals in the face of the housing.

T timers are normally Ford style roller contact, with roller making contact with terminals in the inside edge of the timer.

Then, there is the flapper type, Anderson, which has a hinged flapper that makes contact with steel terminals around the inside edge of the housing.

Photo one shows (l to r) the Ford, the New Day and the Anderson
.

TW timer is the newest one, which is brush type, using a carbon brush making contact with terminals on the inside edge of the housing. The TW is complete with new housing, but similar to old timer called the M-F.

Lastly, the E-Timer is completely different, using a Hall Sensor, and NO Contact to the housing, no wear. It is all electronic and is high tech, doing many functions, operates only on battery, with Ford trembler coils shunted.

i have a new day timer. i replaced the copper brush with carbon and it wears less but requires more cleaning.
Despite being a new day timer i found it still works ok at night too.

Thank you J Franklin ,T Model man /.
Ben ,You have reassured me now, I was worried about night driving ,so all should be good ,but now what about lights, Ted

I have been using new day timers for over 50yrs. and love them. I have one thats been
on the same car for almost 20yrs. with lots of miles on it. I just clean it twice a year
and have changed the brush a couple of times when it wears. The timer body has
been holding up fine.
They are on 4 of my cars.
