I have a 1931 A with a B engine in it. water pump, distributor, manifold and etc. are all A parts. How do I time the engine?

If you use an A distributor, but the front timing gear cover is B, then move the spark lever to the mid position and use the timing pin as normal.

The key is the front cover as the 'B' cover timing pin hole allows for 9º advance. To set the timing to 'A' specs with the 'B' cover the timing lever would have to be set down 4 or 5 clicks and the timing then set.

The car is running great now so pull the distributor cover and watch where the rotor is when the timing pin goes in the cam indent. This will tell you if you have a B or an A timing cover. Then do as the rest have said on here. your brother Jack. your cell still rings BUSY all the time.
