37 ford with a 48 merc engine. It starts and runs good under light throttle.
When i step on it and at higher rpm it sputters and misses. It has new plugs.
Could it be points, wires??? HELP.

Could be any number of things, but I'd start with fuel delivery. Pull the line feeding the carb, put it into a bucket, and crank the engine with the ignition off. See if you're satisfied with the volume and pressure of delivery. There's a specific volume to attain in number of revolutions, but I don't remember that info.

Fuel system is good. I don't know if the plug wires have ever been changed.
I suppose that might be the easiest thing to start with. Any more ideas?

Check the colour of the spark of the plug wire to ground as you rev it if it changes from blue to yellow and weak then its ignition ,if it runs better with the choke out then its fuel starvation ,.blocked jets ,fuel bowl level, ect Ted
