Tillotson Carburetor?

I’m wondering if A Folks are using the Tillotson Carb. I’m still having problems with the rebuilt Zenith I purchased. Before you all get on me, I’m going to talk to the distributor tomorrow. He is an honorable man and know he will work with me. I have a Tillotson that’s in pretty good shape I’m thinking of rebuilding it myself and see what happens. Thanks

I really like the Zenith 1, but I had a 31 with a Tillotson that ran great.

If not warped, I would give it a shoot. Rebuild.

Enjoy.

I have had good luck with Tillotson, but only, as WHN said, if not warped. I think they put out a little bit more power, but it could be my wishful imagination.

I have been running one since I got my A. Just needed a rebuild.

I posted pictures in the past of doing a couple. Use C-clamps and oven set at 250 degrees. Adjust clamps as necessary. Oh Yea, flush carb with water before placing in the oven. You don't want to blow up your wife's kitchen.

Also let it bake for at least an hour at temperature, and the most important thing to remember is let it cool slowly in the oven (I did mine at night, turned off oven before bed, ready in the morning)

Ok, so I’m going to assume the warping is at the top of the carb where it bolts to the manifold, or maybe where it bolts together. What should I look for? Thanks.
By the way I have proved that the two “ leaking” rebuilt Zenith carbs, out of the over flow hole are the fault of the seat valves. I’ll look tomorrow to see if the they are the Viton type. Not sure if I’ll ever get through this issue but I surely am trying. Thanks

After you 'un-warp' your Tilly's carb halves, ensure you don't over-tighten the screws. Only tight enough to flaten the lock washers.

Same with Marvel Schebler carburetors. Also, as I have mentioned before, I cut my own gaskets from Cork/Buta-N. Much softer and conforms better than the hard paper gaskets that you get from the vendors.
