Tilitson Carburetor Adjustment

I have installed a Tilitson on my Model A. It runs fine but leaks fuel after sitting for a while. I assume the float level needs to be set. The only way I can see to make the adjustment is to bend the float flange. Is there another option?
Thanks
Bob

Nope, thats how its changed. Just be careful, hold the valve contact section and bend the tab. Thats probably not what is causing the leak though. Its probably the valve and seat. These can make you pull your hair out sometimes ! If there is a dimple worn in the float arm from the needle, careful sand/file/emory that out flat. I like the gross type valve, the metal tip valve or a good original.

How long is a "while"? Float valve is a metering device, it should not be looked on as a shutoff mechanism. I reckon if the car idles Ok for 30 minutes without flooding occuring and can be left switched off with the tap open for 15 minutes without flooding then it's OK. Stopped for anything longer than 10 minutes and you should always turn the tap off.

Maybe I need to replace the shutoff valve on the tank as it allows some seepage when in the off position. It is a new shutoff valve but it does not stop all fuel flow.
I can let the vehicle sit for an hour with the shutoff valve in the off position before the carb leaks.

I should tell you that I also have a Zenieth carburetor that does not leak under identical conditions.
