Tight steering

I just purchased this '28 roadster and it seems to run good, but the steering is tight. It seems to be at the column. I've greased the box and front end, and all of that seems to be fine, so I'm thinking it is in the column. Is there a way to lube the top bushing in the column? Or does anyone have other ideas?

I squirt oil on the steering shaft at the top bushing, and also had to oil the tight spark and gas levers. The oil helped a lot and the levers and steering work quite well now. Oil runs right out of my steering box, so I pump some Mystik JT-6 grease into it then add some Mobil 636 gear oil. After I overhaul the steering box I will just use the heavy gear oil, Mobil 636.

Grease all the fittings. Pay attention to the king pins, if they are not taking grease properly the steering will be tight.

Are you familiar with 'A's' ? Is the front end off the ground while you're trying to figure this out ? As mentioned, disconnect the box from the rest and try to isolate everything.

You could install the later box and column with the needle bearings installed unless you want to keep the car all original.
