Tight engine problem

I considered all the good advice and have now run my engine on a test stand in the following manner: Four 5 min. runs with cool down between runs. Followed by Two 15 min. runs, and Two 20 min. runs. Total of 90 min. Engine now runs very nice and is not tight. I decided to not remove any shims and just ran it carefully. Seems like it worked out fine. Water temp settled in at about 190*. This of course was without fan shroud and a shortened 2 blade fan. It did get to a little over 200* when I ran it at a fairly high RPM but cooled right down at fast idle speed. I varied the speed for short runs on each test except the first 5 min test.

I'll sure give it a try. Had the plastiguage on the crank but I'm not sure it's totally round so maybe I checked in a low spot. Anyway, I'll relieve the pressure on the mains and add .001 to the low side and go from there. I was pretty close to .001 on a couple of them.
Thanks,
Pete
You have nothing wrong. I have found even with modern engines when you have.001 clearance ,You will have that break away sensation when you first turn it over. Also ,I would not under any circumstance reduce the bolt torque below 80 Ft LBS Your engine when started will be fine. Also all of the old bearing books tell you never remove a shim from one side without removing the other side.
