Hey All,
I tried searching for this information, but didn't find anything.
First, is the throw out bearing pressed onto the collar?
Is there a special tool to remove the bearing? Just use a two prong or three prong puller?
Yes it is pressed on. Ideal way to take it off is with a hyd press.
Problem I see with a puller, is nothing to push against in the center.
Unless you made an insert.
That's my problem, I have no way to make an insert.
Anyone have problems with Bob Drake products?
I bought a collar and bearing separately and they just slid together. Not even a tight fit.
Recently changed the T/O bearing in my 8BA. May be different but with mine it slides onto a hub that slides on the shaft. My hub had uneven wear and had to be replaced also. There no expensive and I believe C&G sells a T/O bearing and hub in a set. While you got it open consider replacing the clutch, etc.. Van Pelts has a good price on the set also.
As Ralph set, send them back if they don't fit.
The throw out bearing is a "loose" fit onto the hub.........except for the last roughly 0.100" of the hub. There is a slight shoulder there, where the bearing requires a light press fit to finish seating it to the hub. Beware of cheap Chinese TO bearings. Call Mac VanPelt for quality parts and service.
