Throttle Linkage Question

The part of the linkage in my photo where there is a hinge. I painted the linkage and now that is very tight. It looks like there is a 5/16 pin that holds it together. I used a punch to try to drive this out but it didn't budge. Should I hit it harder or what is your suggestion? There are two hinge points and I am talking about the hinge closest to you.

I would spray the joint with brake cleaner or acetone to get rid of the paint, that is likely what is binding up the joint. You may have to bead blast it.

You can use a punch to remove the pin. Better might be to use a press as the throttle of my inspection shows the pin in a hole - but that was seemingly only for construction. The pin appears "pressed" into the hole.

A so called "interference" fit.

Best would be to remove the cotter pin (on mine) on the top, remove the washer, and "walk" the rotating part upwards and off the pin. Then blast or otherwise thin or remove the paint.

Just spray something on it to soften up the paint a little. Work it back n forth with your hand, then put some penetrating oil on it. Don't overthink it. It was working just fine before, no need to dismantle it.

Many times the pins are tapered so you must determine that first as pin will only come out in one direction.
