Throttle Adjustment

The few times I have driven the car ('29 Tudor) I can't find the sweet spot for the throttle lever.

I have read to start the car with the throttle lever down(full throttle) and all the way up after starting. When driving, the car idles extremely slow when at a traffic light/stop sign, which I assume is natural, but it has died a few times. So much so, that I have to adjust the throttle when approaching an intersection.

Also, when adjusting the throttle, it seem I have to move the lever nearly horizontal for the engine to recognize the adjustment. Then there is quite a bit of "slack" when trying to fine tune the throttle. Moving the throttle lever one notch at a time does nothing. I imagine it takes four notches for the engine to recognize the adjustment.

What gives?

I never use the steering column throttle lever. It really only needs to be used when starting in cold weather and then pulled just a few notches. At least thats my take on it.
The idle speed is set on the carburetor itself and it sounds as though yours needs to set a bit higher. Its the screw located at the carburetor throttle shaft. CW is faster, CCW is slower.
