Thread pitch on the tie rod

Hello,

does anyone know what the thread pitch of the ends of the tie rod threads is? In other words, how much does one turn of the tie rod change the toe-in?

Many thanks in advance!

So that means that one turn of the tie rod moves the spindle arms 2/24” because each end is moving 1/24”. However, that is the movement of the spindle arms. The distance is amplified at the perimeter of the wheel. Since you measure at the perimeter when the measuring point is 6” above the ground, I’d use an amplification of 2x to put you in the ballpark. So one turn should change the toe-in around 4/24” (0.167”, about 4 mm or a bit over 1/8”). YMMV.

Edit - see John Buckley’s comment below. Actual movement is double the numbers above.

I agree with the sums JJ, but haven't we got to factor in the tie rod moves the back AND the front of wheel by the same amount but in the opposite directions so double again? [ie 1 full turn in moves the front in 4mm, but also moves the back out 4mm ] making it 8mm toe in change for a full turn of the tie rod?

Yup, that’s correct. I was thinking only reference the axis of rotation, not front and back. Thanks for setting me straight.

So to change the toe in by 1/32 inch, you would turn the tire rod by 1/32 / 1/4 or 1/8 of a turn? (about)
