Anybody out there have any dealings with American Collectors Insurance.
I have USAA for our moderns and ACI is who USAA refers you to.
Thanks,
Ed

I have used them for about 8 years based upon USAA recomendation. I have not had to make any claims, but no problems, price seems pretty good.

I use USAA for the house and modern cars, but as I recall AMERICAN COLLECTORS had much more restrictive use requirements than HAgerty which I have used happily, though with no claims for years, yet I witnessed Hagerty pay off in a flash to others after Hurricane Sandy.

I 've been a USSA customer for over 40 years for both my home and modern cars. Hence on ther reccommendation used American collector without any claims or problems but I changed to Hagerty as they are less restrictive.

I was with American Collectors for quite a few years but changed insurers when they got fussy about renewing a good friends policy solely because of his age, he never had a claim. As my friend was not too much older than I was I quickly changed companies to avoid a similar situation.

I heard American Collectors' and Condon and Skelly were both bought out and merged with a company called NSA or something like that.

I have had USAA since flight school 47 years ago. They have been great. EXCEPT their recommended boat insurer sent a surveyor/claims adjuster to estimate storm damage to my Bertram 31. The adjuster agreed on his own that there was around $8,000 damage and submitted that to the company. They offered me $66. I never use USAA recommended subsidiaries anymore.

I have had American Collectors for over 40 years. Good company, good people to work with. All of my cars have stated value coverage and trip interruption coverage. Very responsive to questions and changes to the policy.

My neighbor said he changed because use was very restrictive as to miles per year and purpose. Maybe someone can comment that knows. Wayne

I had American Collectors for about 10 years, covering up to three cars at a time but had no claims. I just switched to another company for a couple of reasons, one of which was that almost every time I changed a vehicle something got screwed up. Like the wrong vehicle was dropped or the new one was not added. This was always when I did it online. When I then talked to somebody on the 800 line it got straightened out and very courteously too. My advice would be to not do things online but instead call them directly.

I use Hagerty for seven cars. Had 1 claim a couple years ago and will stay with them because of the great way they handled it. Recently I had a question about the 2500 miles per year restriction, as I have been driving one of my cars to meets far from my home and have put on about 7K miles this year. They said don't worry about it, you can only drive one at a time.

I had American Collectors (through USAA) for one year (no claims) and ran into a similar problem, that they screwed up the policy every time I tried to change something online. Then when I was deployed for a while, they decided to double the cost for one of my Model A's because I was not available to sign a form confirming that I had made the changes online via their secure website. Then I called them to ask about the increase (stacked insurance). The representative was really annoyed that I had called and she could not clearly explain the increase. I ended up being on the phone with them for an hour and 18 minutes to try and fix what I thought should have been an easy quick fix. When I got back, I dumped them (it was right on my renewal date). It seemed to me like they are technologically stuck in the 1980's.

When I decided to dump American Collectors, it was at around 8 pm in the evening. I called JC Taylor to ask about their rates and coverage and no one answered their phone :(....so I called Hagerty. They answered the phone and were most helpful. :) Got the new policy set up in about 15 minutes with all of my questions answered and explained in clear english. Everything (100% set up of the new policy) was done online as well. The representative with whom I spoke was a car guy too, so he understood exactly what I was asking about (driving, use of my cars, insurance coverage of spare parts, tools and related automobilia, etc). Hagerty's rates were slightly less as well with more coverage (and more miles on the towing/recovery package, etc).

Fordially,
