This used to be fun

regarding prices, if you have been away for 15 years, just get used to it. it is today's reality. Most everything is a lot more expensive these days.

Unless you are a serious restorer, just pick any engine enamel color you like. I am doing my new block in Ford Dark Blue enamel. Almost no one other than serious Model A guys will ever know or care about your engine color. My car is Andalucite Blue and a dark blue motor matches the exterior color better. I guess I am a heretic .

Thanks for all the input!! Finally connected with Little Dearborn. Ordered what he was able to provide. Found the paint and all my other needed parts @ Berts in Colorado. Had everything in stock except the paint.
They told me the paint is "difficult" right now (are you ready for this??) because "there's a shortage of PAINT CANS"!!!
Reminds me of having a sewer blockage while people keep flushing the toilets. THE SEWAGE JUST KEEPS GETTING HIGHER!!

Automotive paint, the good stuff, became damnably expensive years ago. I'm pretty sure that's one reason why so-called "patina" became a thing a while back. People pricing body work, prep, and paint just choked on the estimate.

The can shortage sounds right. Have read this about numerous products. The issue isn't necessarily the product itself, but the container. Even beer cans were in short supply for a while.
