This used to be fun

Really surprising how things have changed since I have been absent over the past +- 15 years. Good "reasonably priced" parts used to be readily available from multiple reliable suppliers and shipping cost was practical. Almost appears someone wants this activity to cease. ;o(

Besides trying to find necessary replacement parts to re-assemble a old engine, formerly "insignificant" things such as engine paint have become scarce, impossible to ship, questionable regarding proper/consistent color, and require the association with a "lender".
Does anyone know of a West Coast USA source for traditional Model A Ford Green engine paint or should I just paint it Rustoleum "whatever"???

I tried ordering some paint online from the suppliers. No dice. I was told it was 6 months out. I found some, in one of my boxes of parts. Not for sale.

Many paint stores can mix anything and put it spray cans.
Don’t have a clue as to cost of canning
Paint chart has sample….or the old ones did

Someone posted this formula for engine paint recently that you should be able to source locally. It is all Rust-Oleum gloss paint.
18 oz. Hunter Green
8 oz. Royal Blue
8 oz. Black

If this isn't available on the West Coast, well, I would think it's time to lower the flag and leave!

I bought a tin of it years ago but anticipated the day I would need more so I painted the label. I figured I could take it off, take it to a paint shop and have them match it. It's too far to send it but I now have some.

it still is fun you just need to pick the rite color.

If you paint the engine flat black, it will cool better.

Bought a quart of "Ford engine green paint" part number RSP6Q for $24.99 from Macs this winter. I have only run the motor for a total of two hours since painting it. So far it looks fine.

I'm lucky where I'm at. Our local paint company has the formulas to all of the model a colors including the engine green. A local enthusiast donated them. They can mix in a spray can or a quart can, your choice. It may not hurt to check a paint store or a restoration shop near you.

Thanks for all the input!! Finally connected with Little Dearborn. Ordered what he was able to provide. Found the paint and all my other needed parts @ Berts in Colorado. Had everything in stock except the paint.
They told me the paint is "difficult" right now (are you ready for this??) because "there's a shortage of PAINT CANS"!!!
Reminds me of having a sewer blockage while people keep flushing the toilets. THE SEWAGE JUST KEEPS GETTING HIGHER!!

it still is fun you just need to pick the rite color.

That yellow don't look half bad, it's different, I'll give you that, but not to bad, I have also seen them painted red.

Might I suggest on your's...intake manifold same yellow, valve cover same yellow, exhaust manifold and tailpipe flat heat resistant black (I use BBQ paint for that)

In southern California, there is CWMoss in Orange, and The Early Ford Store in San Dimas. They carry the paint the last time I checked.

Regards
Bill
