RyanB,

Why are you joining this forum ? My reason is to learn about the Model A and share information with other forum users.

If the forum has some rules, then you use them or go somewhere else. Very simple.

It is always an interesting question what is restoration and when does it become a hot rod? Like many of said ask here and help will come. This is a site that tends toward traditional but I know many of the participants and there are many not completely stock Model A amongst them.

Don't sweat it any at all. HC heads, Hot cams, synchro transmissions, 12 volt concersions, downdraft cabruretors, and hydraulic brakes come up often. As long as you are running an original 4 banger as far as I am concerened your participation is welcome. Several people seem to post non A stuff all of the time and get away with it, although it is close to A era it has nothing to do with Model A's. I just skip over their posts and move on to something that is closer to on topic. Rod

For what it is worth i bought a model A because it had mechanical brakes. Those leaky other kind were intolerable.

Sad to say, Mike has it spot on. See http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showpost.php?p=586868&postcount=30 active link which should bring you directly to it.

But let us define inhale. After that let us define "purist."

Without further direction from the driver, perhaps we who are less than pure can hang onto the running boards?

I hope so. It's been a fun ride so far.

Um, driver, watch for the stop sign up ahead? (He says pointing)

Maybe like that other board I inhabit, we can have a "prefix" which kind of gives a heads up to what the post might contain? Perhaps a "fine point" prefix, a Touring Class prefix, a Safety prefix, a vintage hot rod prefix, a "outta this world" prefix for those whose money or ambition can't be contained.

If you don't want to see anything in these areas - don't click! Life is simple when you have choices - and you know what you want.

Meanwhile, don't expect me to remove my stainless steel spark and accelerator rods. It was heartbreaking enough when the chrome wore through after three years and the rods started rusting. I just can't handle that kind of disappointment again!

Joe K
Joe K, Question, Chrome wore through in only three years ?? Must have been bad reproduction pieces.. One more, Your STAINLESS STEEL rods started RUSTING ?? :):)

This site should, in fact, focus on the stock and pure restoration. And we try to... However, there are sidebars... And I'm fine with that. So long as these sidebars don't run off the purists.

That's all...

RyanB, you are all good man. Don't sweat it.

Thanks for the site, I like your rules.

Paul

I think what needs to be done now is A) If your weather is bad, go out to your garage and do something A'ish and breath the fresh air. or B) If your weather is good, go out to your garage and start 'er up and go for a drive and breath the fresh air. Relax, enjoy .

This horse is definitely getting to be beat to death here ...and probably will continue in the future. Kinda sad no matter which "side" you're on!

One issue that I do find amusing here is how some folks get really offended that this particular forum site is designated for stock restoration fellas. Fellas that are Purists! Ironically THAT just absolutely ticks some people off! Why is that? Yet on the flip side, no one ever gets offended if we go to a McDonalds restaurant and they refuse to serve us Mexican food, -even if that is what we might want. It is almost as if some people expect Ryan to cater to what they want ...and not what Ryan wants! And then when we are all politely reminded what his rules are by the man in charge, folks will still continue to disobey the rules citing excuses like we need to be more tolerant ...or it isn't Chevy engine's we're discussing. Kinda sad for everyone involved!! :o

I was wondering if ANYONE...wanted to discuss Model A's and restoration on the FORD BARN anymore or was just to ***** about every single comment anyone says!!!!

Can we get back to what were here for and END THIS FOREVER!!!
Grow up people, stay leave does it matter anymore....just talk about MODEL A FORDS!!!!

I wonder how much would be left of this forum if all of those of us who are NOT pure restorationists would no longer post. Anybody care to start a poll?

Anyone care to STOP this post and get on with business and who cares about polls. Ill ask again are we here for MODEL A's or what.. END THIS THREAD!!!

I think we should hold a poll to determine if we stop the thread.

Vote with your left click mouse button.

So no solenoid valves for the gas supply?

I have rubber valves stems on my tires.

Unfortunately Lebaron Bonney put FOAM into their seat cushion kit for my truck.

My headlight lenses don't say FORD script.

I have an electric wiper to replace the hand swiper.

Stainless steel spark and throttle rods, sorry...

And I've been thinking how nice juice brakes, fiberglass fenders, an F150 steering box, a box channel frame, and a VW diesel engine might be on my NEXT Model A.

Maybe I shouldn't say more...

Or maybe we all need to LIGHTEN UP a bit.

It's like a party. Different people come to the party. Some talk about what you're interested in. Others you have NO use for. But the object is to shmooze and have fun with like minds.

Ok. Where is the bowl of Ford Fudge? Its been YEARS since I've had any.

Joe K

Edit: See http://blog.thehenryford.org/2011/05/were-making-fudge-at-the-greenfield-village-store/ as this may be "ford fudge."

I think mentioned in the Mary Moline Model A book. It's a pretty simple recipe. Doesn't seem to be on the 'net.
Joe K,

Well said! Amen!

Just one question fellas.....

can anyone tell me how to shoehorn a big block into my A jalopy.......?

OK-smile!

See, THAT is what I think is offensive to many. First off, ALL of us are guests here. None of us have the "right" to be here! Second, this site does not exist because any one, --or any few of us remain here!! Third, many of us here are hot rodders too HOWEVER the rules have been clearly defined by which we are supposed to participate. Therefore let's abide by the wishes of the owner of the site and discuss Model-A's within the parameters he set forth. That is showing respect to him. Choosing to complain about his rules ...or blatantly disobeying them, --or threatening to go play elsewhere only creates hard feelings. Nobody "wins" in something like that. Its really not that hard to play by the rules!!

.

I love the Ford Barn and though I don't comment often I have learned a lot here. But I don't have time to read every thread. And if it is about something I'm not interested in, I don't look at it. Why get yourself all stressed out?
