I was poking around HAMB and got drawn to this 2CV build. Keep in mind I am somewhat familiar with the citreons and was very curious as to what they would do with the little car. This guy is engineering a very custom car. Go deep into the many pages and you will find this guy mixing engineering with art. He is doing wonders with his talents.

Citreon 2CV build

That is some really impressive metal working, and all done in a home shop. The art work in his panels is amazing.

That is a lot of good metal work. I love the build threads on the HAMB. People put a lot into them and you learn a lot. I am building an Av8 flat head roadster and I have gotten great ideas and answers to problems from the AV8 build threads.

I got hooked and read all the posts on the fellows project. Terrific metal work. One statement above all he made stood out when he was asked why he didn't go to a larger horsepower engine. He replied, "I live in France and we have no right to change the engine!" He went on to explain that there was an easy engine swap that would give him considerable horsepower but the engine in his car had a certain sound and a cop would surely know it wasn't an original engine.

Seems a small thing but he doesn't have the right to change the engine. Imagine not having the right to add overdrives, one wire alternators, high compression heads or any other thing we want.

Please notice I didn't suggest putting in a Chevy small block in my Model A.

Hmmmmmm Maybe the Frogs got some thing there!

The day may come here sooner than you think.
Minnesota has tight control over property rights right now.
On my trip to Texas I saw lot of states that looked more appealing than MN.

InEurope there is a big move on to allow no changes to a vehicle. On motorcycle many now have one way bolts on things like the exhaust system and carburetor. If you try to remove one they break off. This is to prevent even doing your own maintenance, or changing things. I do not know about cars, but I imagine they follow.

There is also a move to have end of service life on motorcycles. After so many years you have to scrap it and replace with a new one.I found out about this when I was working with a motorcycle rights group from Belgium . They said beware it is coming our way.

That is terrible. Technobigotry.

That was an easy way to kill an hour! Incredible stuff. I am soooo jealous. Wish I could work metal like that.

There are some serious skills on show, his panel work is amazing. It also shows that no matter how restrictive law makers are, someone will still find a way of customizing a car.
