Third Brakelighter

I ordered a 3rd brake light for my Ford. It's call a "Third Brakelighter" and is an LED light sold by J & L Enterprises near Hartford, CT. I talked with John around noon last Friday while he was at a car show. I received it in the mail today and he won't charge my card for a week and a half after I got it to be sure I am satisfied first. Who else gives that kind of service. It is a really nice light the can be used with turn signals or not. Installers choice. I am anxious to get it installed.

Cecil, I have one installed on my '32 Standard Coupe. Works great! I use with turn signals and brake. Easy to wire etc. Pay the man! ;) Good luck, Pat

Hi Cecil. I too have one on my 46 Coupe for a few years now and have been very happy with it. Considering the small tail lights on most of our cars and trucks, it certainly keeps folks off my bumper. Steve.

I have one also and they were a big help by sending me a wiring diagram to tie it into my signal lights (they even included a diode). I have some bright bulbs (C&G) in my tail lights. John

I met him at Hershey last year. He was super nice. I'm in the process of installing my Brakelighter right now. It's a quality piece of work; I'm really pleased with it thus-far.

I have a couple of questions on the Backlighter. Can you buy it for a 6 volt system? Does it have a spacer or divider? I would like to install on in my '37 Flatback that has the window divider strip. Thanks for the photo John, but it is so bright that I cannot tell if it is one continuous strip of lights.

It is one continuous strip, but I think it would work with the divider and it is 6v. You can get either 12 or 6v.

These questions and others are answered on their website. Click on the link I posted above.

I have seen them mounted with a license plate bracket just above the license plate. Mine rests on the rear window molding on my '32 Standard Coupe. I use magnets to mount it. The strip also comes with suction cups to attach right to the glass. This would work on the conv. tops as long as you have the top in the "up" position. Pat

I just added a row of Radio Shack LED's to my plate topper. Hardly noticeable, unless they're lit. This would work on any body style.
