Third Brake Light

I spent the day installing a third brake light on my car. I didn't like the LED strip in the rear window, so I came up with this idea. John

Neat! Looks period correct. Using the bullet connectors is a good idea.
BTW is the Rhinebeck Inn still there? Remember eating there years ago when would travel back to mid Hudson Valley for work

One of my fellow club members did a similar install. He used a Velcro strap to mount the light on the spare wheel.

I too remember the Beekman Arms from time spent in Kingston and Poughkeepsie back in the 60s and 70s. Nice to hear it is still a going concern.

very nice BUT isn't more of a burden IF You need that spare tire with wires and such???

I am doing the same, but will use an existing trailer plug to power the light as my phaeton is set up for towing. This will make disconnection easy. If I have the trailer on, I'll rely on the trailer lights and do without the 3rd brake light.

Here's a novel idea:

I like your idea too, but with the trunk in the way, I couldn't use the hub cap approach. John

Any idea how the light is attached? Maybe the mounting studs are extended through a crossbar on the backside and it has wingnuts?
Wasn't my idea, just a picture I found back when I was searching for 3rd light ideas. Of course this wouldn't work for my application (CCPU) anyway, but I thought it was novel anyway.

Couldn't use the third taillight on my pickup. I mounted the LED third brake light under the tailgate. You don't notice it until you step on the brake.

A friend has one in the spare & it's the GAS CAP for his trunk GAS TANK, also! Don't know how he hid the wires, but I hope they NEVER SPARK!!! That tail light might end up on the RIGHT COAST!!!!!!

I took the strip type off the rear window as it looked too modern although it was functional and may replace it with a Model A round one on the spare like yours but below the upper rim. I am thinking of using the 32 style with a full red lens perhaps with the two bulbs wired together.

The one I used is the all red 6 volt LED. Both the tail light and brake light glow together to give a larger than normal appearing rear light. John
