Third brake light question

I'm going to intall a third brake light on my '35 coupe but not sure how to wire it. Directions are unclear and I would appreciate some advice. The car is equipped with turn signals. If anyone can describe what would be the correct wiring scheme it would help a great deal.
The brake light has two wires and I'm thinking it should be wired to the brake switch but I'm not sure. The car is 6 volt, as is the brake light.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to get tech support from the manufacturer. Our 46 has seperate turn signals front and back so not a standard installation. I called Brakelighter and described the situation. They sent me a hand drawn schematic and 2 diodes to install in the rear brake wiring. Great service and when you call you can talk to an engineer.

not sure why diodes and such were needed, T into the output side of the brakelight switch, plug that wire into your 3rd brakelight and go have a beer or soda and tell yourself what a genius you are.

Re: Third brake light question Tinman

Tinman, The brakelighter LED bar also serves at a signal light. Left half of the bar flashes when left signal is put on and same as the right. A diode is a one way electrical valve. Draw a schematic and you will understand the need when you have 2 circuits going back when you have seperate signal lights. If you use the led bar only for brakes then you could use your idea. Mistamick says his car has signal lights.

The LED bar has two sides...left and right. Wire the left side to the left tail light brake/turn signal circuit. Dito for the right side. The LED bar will now mimic the tail lights. My two cents worth.

I wired one wire to the brake light wire where
it splits for the right side and one wire to ground, worked real fine.

I used a Radio Shack type scotch lock to bridge the third brake light's left wire for my left brake light and turn signal, and the right wire for right brake and turns, with the ground wire going to a good ground on my Model A which has the same setup as the V-8.
The four way flasher, brakes, and turns all work real well.

I know what a diode is and what it do.
Where in his post does it say what type it is??

No diodes or special stuff is needed for the third brake light. Just tap into the wire BETWEEN the brake light switch and the turn signal switch. Easy as pie.

Thanks to all who responded. I forgot to mention that this unit is only for the brake light and not for turn signals as well. Installation was made by connecting one wire to the "dead side" screw on the brake switch and the other wire grounded to the frame. I had to remove the switch to connect the wire, as the frame made it too difficult to attach the wire onto the switch. Worked perfectly and now I can brake without looking apprehensively into the rearview mirror to make sure my 6 volt brake lights are seen.

mistamick, I just installed a third brake light by J&L Enterprises, for 6 volt cars, on my stock/original '35 Ford. I also wired it as brake light only for now (no directional signals yet) the exact same way you described. I have a std. model car with only one original brake light on the left, but now having this BL in the rear window, I feel much safer. I came up with a pretty good way to run the wires on my fordor, that required no cutting or hole drilling to bring the wire from the back window to the brake light switch. Working good for me. JM
