Yo, Kid,its best to have it closer to the water outlet.....
forgot to add that i usually drill a couple more bleed holes into the thermostat frame
I use this nifty little device that I got from Precision Products. It uses an "off the shelf" thermostat and has the two 1/8" bypass holes built in. Also has ports for a temperature gauge, and a hot water heater if so desired.
Yo, Kid,
You "messing" with good engineering!! On Minerva, the 160 stat would flow more water on a cold start, than you could imagine ! From the provided vent hole & "maybe " some from the pressure pushing the valve open slightly"
Yo' Dad
Yooo Poparooooni,,
both Tom W and i do the same thing with the extra holes....
you cant argue with that[/
I agree with anything you or Tom W say because I know you guys know what you are talking about. Mitch or Tom do you have a picture of a stat that you drilled out for someone like me to see so I do it right.
Thanks
Tom F....

Tom they come with one hole drilled
just do the same thing 2 more times equal distances apart...

Thanks Mitch. Do I drill a hole on each side of the hole that's there? Is that what you mean.

go in between the other weld spots like the first hole.
Keith
It's a good thing to run. I've run one for over thirty years. If you have a good radiator, the engine never gets to the optimum temperature and runs cool. The thermostat makes sure your engine runs at 160 or 180 depending on which one you run.

I understand now, thanks....
