The "new" Mac's: faster!

Anyone try out Mac's since the buyout? I usually avoided them because of slow shipping times, but they had a part I couldn't find elsewhere so I put in an order Monday evening not knowing what to expect. Just got an email that the order shipped Tuesday and I'll have it by the weekend. Much better than before!

Being a newbie, I was unaware of anyone's reputation.

Did notice Mac's was part of Ecklers, and have dealt with Rick's Camaro's (also part of Ecklers) for quite a few years. So I was comfortable with Mac's and they delivered quickly.

Snyders and Bratton's have been excellent also.

Dan at Snyders is one class act! He was short an item, and he knew what I was working on, so he called me to discuss! I really appreciated that.:)

Yeah, the last few orders I have placed with them, have been sent a lot sooner than they used to be. I still prefer Snyders, but Macs seem to be on the improve.

A lot of the previous complaints about Mac's, besides the length of time to ship, was their shipping charges.

As they had parts on stock, "the others" couldnt send, i switched back
to MACs for the last 2 deliveries. (I ordered "Rush" which causes extra-charge)
From putting the order to arrival on my front door, both orders where
48 hours !!!

:eek::eek::eek:

remember:
Goods had to go half arround this planet
and
Goods had to go through german customs (time-consuming - you bet)

Back in pre-Ecklers some deliveries from MACs ran 3 month.

I cant find different shipping charges compared to "the others"
( and i dont care in shipping charges - but please dont tell them).

btw nice and customer-oriented behavior by Sam-C

Thumbs up

I thought alot of the complaints were their high prices? I see stuff that is sometimes double and triple for the exact same things the other guys sell.

I am curious as to why they are apparently one of the few dealers that carry lacquer...

The last two orders I have placed with Mac's have been ordered on a Thursday evening via their order email and have arrived at my door on Tuesday afternoon.
This is a delivery half way around the world to an Island state at the bottom of Australia, and I think that not bad. They recently forgot to place a $1.95 part, clevis, in an order, and mailed it free to me, cost them $39.95 postage.

Although I generally use Snyder's due to their friendly/almost like family disposition as well as quick shipping, I recently ordered a couple of parts from MACs that Snyder's did not have I have ordered non-Model A related parts from the past and have had no problem. As far as shipping, compared to Snyder's, they do take about 2 more days, however, they do service a wider range of vehicles. As far as pricing, I find that that are on par with the other vendors, some things higher, other lower. And, I have to say, they sent me a new catelog and its 'outstanding'. The parts diagrams are 'excellent' and very useful aside from just buying parts. So, while I will probably continue to shop at Snyder's mostly, I would not or will not hesitate to order from them. After reading this thread I placed a order yesterday the 23rd at 9am. It's been a 10 day wait in the past. So...we will see.

First time ordering from them was last night. Hoping it will be here by friday or saturday but time will tell. price wise everyone seems to be pretty competative. Every now and then one supplier will be a measurable difference from the others but other things they have will be a tad higher so it all equals out.

I have ordered from Mac's several times as well as the others and a local vendor. I have had excellent service and good parts from Mac's.

If I am unhappy with a vendor I tell them. If I'm happy, I buy again. It work's. Having been a retail shop owner for 5 years and a wholesale sales rep for 19 years I know that the best of people make mistakes.

I once participated in selling a tape that was "better than the major" brand (that you all know) and then also participated in picking up all of it that wasn't useable when they recalled it.

Have a complaint, let them know!

They may be shipping quicker but I've tried to order 2 or 3 times lately to check for myself and every item has backordered. At least now they call to let you know and give you the option of canceling. Its back to Snyders for me.

I might consider buying acrylic lacquer model A colors from Macs. I hope that they get better like they use to be back around 1990. Snyders has sold the best repro parts and given the quickest service-shipping of any other that I've ever dealt with. Sometimes one vender has parts or products that others don't handle . I buy from several venders for that reason. We really don't want to lose any model A venders.

I placed an order Tuesday from Macs. This is Friday and no shipping notice yet. I have never ordered from them before so will wait and see how they do. So far not impressed.

Same here! No Shipping Notice or Tracking #
If I had ordered from Snyders the parts would have been on my steps Yesterday like they have in the past. (Model T Parts)
