The Merc Runs

Ralph, thanks for sharing the excitement, it never gets old... 30yr bear slumber and back at, how beautiful is that and I exspecially liked all the rigging with the batteries and starter. Happy roosty6

Movie won't load for me.....
I don't know why the video won't load for you as it seems to work fine for me , and I guess a few others. I have a short driving video from yesterday to edit and upload soon.
I checked today and there is a good chance I can get Type A trans fluid locally. They don't have much demand for it but it sounds hopeful. I just need to figure out how much it holds. Need to search up that online Fordomatic manual I was looking at the other day.

I really enjoy your video's. Glad you have gotten the 39 Ford & 52 Merc running. It's great to see them arise form a long slumber. Also enjoy your farm video's. I traveled thru Saskatoon in the early 70's with my parents. I hope to do it again before too long.

Adjusting belts can be a chore. I adjust the fan and generator belts with the generator out of its cradle. When the belts are tight I can just push the gen down onto the peg in the cradle & secure the strap. That big Genny is too heavy to manipulate easily. Some folks do it other ways but that's how I have always done the task.

The trans fluid may appear much cleaner than it really is, because all the crud will have settled to the bottom and the stuff above will appear spotless.

Sounds like a good option as that gen is heavy and awkward reaching over the rad to pry it up. But I have no problem getting the gen belt tight. Its the fan and it's base that seem to come up against a solid obstacle before the belt is even tight. Plenty of room left in the slots to move it up but it comes up against something solid that stops it.
Mart, I expect you are right on the trans fluid and if I stir it up much the sludge on the bottom will become noticeable.
New "driving video" is out. https://youtu.be/LzMLwD36KeI
