WOW,
I just found this thread!!
1960 Fords are one of my all time favorites. I bought mine in late '63 or early '64. It was a 223 6 cylinder, 3 speed stick, w/o a radio OR a heater. I bought it from a woman that used it in some kind of business.
I was a mechanic at the time and it took me about 6 months to put a '58 Tbird, 300 hp, 352, 4 barrel engine in it ( where I worked had a tow service and wrecking yard). I put a Cruise-A-Matic behind it from the '58, 410, Edsel Corsair that I had had 2 years before. They are one of the easier engine compartments to work with, have that WIDE hood.
You note in the picture that it is raked a bit and the engine/trans combo, is why.
For what should have been a easy swap, it WAS NOT! The wiring and gas line was on the wrong side, I also had to have the Edsel drive shaft shortened and it seems like the radiator outlet was wrong, too but, when it was done, it was a runner. I hooked the 2/3, stick shift lever to the transmission selector. It worked good but, you had to be careful. I could beat GTO's and 4-4-2's!
I only have two Instamatic pictures of it, one from the day after my wedding, the other a day or two later. The small picture had my wife in it, too but, when we divorced, she cut herself out of it
I'm half heartedly looking for another one, I have TO many cars now.
