Is it normal for Model A doors to rattle a little when the road is not so smooth?

Rattle.........you're lucky you weren't thrown to the ground.

When I drive over RR tracks or hit a pothole I have a slapping noise, like a brake rod slapping a metal floor, but so far I can't find the cause.

when I took apart one door to change the door handle rod, I found many things plus a few yellow jacket nests.

Even my 1959 F100 doors rattle on rough roads and bumps...

I installed windlace around the doors and that made a big difference...

But, if the doors don't rattle, you'll just hear something else.....

Ever since I go mine on the road, one of my favorite pass-times is hunting down rattles and squeaks one at a time and killing them. The two things that I found made the biggest differences with my doors were these items.

Yes, definitely having all the rubber installed will give you the best chance of minimising rattle noise.

If fitted properly with the correct rubber bumpers, I'd say no, it should not rattle. A properly restored vehicle is tight and quiet. Easier said than done .....

It there a diagram or pictures were the rubber mounts go? When I got my model a there wasn't a pice of rubber left anywhere. Some sort of picture will help

Rattles are part of the fun driving a Model A! Except for the trailer queens, How many guys on the forum can say their car doesn't ever rattle?

I have heard one original in my lifetime that sounded like a ice box door closing when I closed the door, only one.

Door panels
Wind lace
Rotted wood
Are all some contributing factors for a tight fit

Being different for each model, you just need to get the correct set, and through the process of elimination determine their location.

I second this. I have an original 29 fordor that is tight as an icebox. No rattles. Quiet enough to sneak up on people.

However, I have never, ever been in a restored Model A that doesn't have a rattle or several.
