That Blue Ford Paint - I Forget the Name....

Howdy, Boys:

Can someone provide the name and source of the blue paint like you find in hubcap letters, hood latch levers, '39 bumper grooves, etc. ? A guy told me at the ENM in Hiawassee. But, he had been drinking and I wasn't sure if he was recalling accurately. Therefore, I did not write it down. (Well, to be totally honest, I had been drinking also..... maybe I forgot where I wrote it down?)

Can it be bought in spray bomb, or do I need to plan on firing up the ol' spray gun?

Much obliged,

Mike

I used testors blue paint for model cars. Small bottle available at hobby shops.

Works good
Lasts long time

I bought a can of paint from Roy Nacewicz a few years ago for what you are looking for. He still shows it in the catalog that I have and he just calls it "Special Blue" for hub caps, emblems etc. Man it is $24.95 for a pint plus shipping. One thing I do remember was it was some kind of lacquer or acrillic enamel or something that was really kind of tough to brush on before it dried so quick, but it looks good and is still on some of my stuff. I think if I was doing it today I would go to Hobby Lobby and buy Testor model enamel blues that look close, mayby mix lighter and darker ones to get correct color and only have a couple bucks in it.

Back in my Parts Mgr days we used to call it Corporate Blue but I don't remember the part # for it, it came in either touch up or a small spray can from Ford. Not sure if it's still available that way from Ford, those days were a few decades ago.

Corporate Blue. Thanks. I think I'll look into getting it at the local Ford dealership first, then go from there.....

Thanks for the good information, boys.

Mike

There are no spray paints available from Ford. Shipping it from the depots to dealers insurance problems and cost was one of the reasons. As far as a touch up bottle, it's hard to even get any for 5 year old cars, unless it's used in a fairly current model year. I worked in the Ford parts end up until a year ago. Try a auto parts store such as Napa, Advance auto, they carry alot of touch ups and sprays.

oops, forgot the code...
